Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this position. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Instructor will provide quality instruction to students; to maintain awareness of the role of Continuing Education in the overall College mission; to understand services available to students; to develop business and industry linkages; and to participate in in-service development opportunities. Faculty assigned to Unmanned Aircraft Systems ( UAS ) instruction are responsible for delivering course content in accordance with current FAA regulations, industry standards, and workforce needs.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teach all courses according to the approved course outline and, where applicable, current industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and submit required reports to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Present recommendations to the supervisor to improve instructional programs, including revisions or updates of course outlines, curriculum, and instructional materials to ensure relevance to workforce and industry needs.
  • Recommend textbook, software, and instructional material changes to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Recommend the type and quality of equipment needed for instructional purposes to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain proper work hours, including established office, lab, shop, classroom, virtual classroom, and field training hours as applicable.
  • Submit a Personal and Professional Development Plan to the appropriate supervisor annually.
  • Serve upon request as a faculty advisor to students and provide guidance regarding educational and career pathways.
  • During registration, perform assigned duties.
  • Fulfill assignments to faculty committees.
  • Attend all scheduled faculty meetings.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies as scheduled.
  • Dress appropriately to uphold the dignity of the profession and the responsibilities of the position.
  • Sponsor student organizations, as appropriate and assigned, and participate in student‑centered activities.
  • Foster and sustain collegial relationships with colleagues, college representatives, the local community, business and industry partners, and professional organizations.
  • Participate in workforce development initiatives, customized training programs, grant‑funded projects, military‑affiliated training programs, and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Teaching Performance

  • Faculty members are expected to:
  • Teach all courses according to the published curriculum with an assigned course load that supports College guidelines, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and division policies.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate effective learning strategies designed to maximize student learning and achievement.
  • Modify instructional methods and strategies, when appropriate, to improve student retention, address diverse learning needs, and make referrals for students requiring additional assistance.
