The Social Work Program at Weber State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor, opening in Fall 2027. This position is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment with a primary assignment in the Master of Social Work Program, which has been granted accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education ( CSWE ).
The position involves graduate teaching responsibilities across the curriculum within an advanced clinical social work practice framework, as well as instruction in the department’s undergraduate program as needed. The teaching emphasis in this position will include the foundations of social work, human behavior in the social environment ( HBSE ), practice-informed research, and research-informed practice, as well as behavioral health, macro practice, and clinical practice theory and methods. Other responsibilities include student advising, committee assignments, professional activities, presentations, publications, and community service.

Weber State University, a part of the Utah System of Higher Education, is located in Ogden, Utah, in the northern part of the State at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. The Master of Social Work ( MSW ) Program is part of the Department of Social Work and Gerontology and is housed in the College of Social Science and Education (the undergraduate social work program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1974). The MSW program employs a harm reduction framework, focusing on the development of advanced clinical social work practice skills. It gives particular attention to local and regional needs, with special emphasis on the growing Latinx community. The MSW program is evolving, has a small but dynamic faculty, and serves a student body from a variety of backgrounds.
