The accountant position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Business Operations. It is expected to maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor in all verbal and written communications. This role is responsible for managing and reconciling financial accounts held at OSU and the OSU Foundation for both the President’s Office and the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Systems Operations Division. The accountant ensures that all financial documentation is processed accurately and complies with OSU policies and state and federal laws, rules, and guidelines.
Additionally, this position will provide financial services and advice on status updates to relevant areas and management; work closely with the accounting and budget offices; and manage records, including the retention and retrieval of documents. Furthermore, the accountant attends Fiscal and Administrative Officers meetings to stay informed about policy and procedural updates.
Responsibilities also include assisting with budget summaries and reconciliations, overseeing purchasing card transaction logs, and providing accounting approval for related activities, including purchase orders, CVIs, work orders, deposits, and EPAFs. They will prepare travel requests and reimbursements as needed and perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
The candidate must be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word and should be able to learn the OSU financial system. This individual will interact daily with staff and department heads within the division they serve by providing financial services.
