Job summary

Southwest Bank is seeking an entry-level Universal Banker I in Odessa, TX to provide superior customer service and accurate transaction processing. You will serve as teller and platform banker, handling deposits, payments, and basic banking tasks.

You will identify customer needs, promote products, open accounts, and support branch operations while maintaining compliance and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate teller station and process deposits, withdrawals, and payments.

The Universal Banker I provides superior and quality customer service by processing transactions efficiently and accurately while actively engaging with customers to identify needs and offer banking solutions. This entry-level role serves as both a teller and a platform banker, performing a variety of banking functions. The Universal Banker I will typically work Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturday shifts as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesTransaction Processing & Customer ServiceOperates a teller station to serve customers by accepting retail and commercial deposits, verifying cash and endorsements, and providing accurate receipts.Identifies customers and processes check cashing, referring to officers for exceptions as required.Processes savings deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.Issues cashier's checks, money orders, and other bank products.Balances cash drawer daily and follows teller over/short policy.Assists in branch opening and closing procedures as assigned.Ensures compliance with security protocols and regulatory requirements.All areas of customer service to include processing wires, disputes, issuing debit cards, etc.Opens new personal and business accounts.Customer Experience & Relationship BuildingDelivers a consistent and exceptional customer experience.Makes a concentrated effort to resolve customer inquiries or issues promptly.Actively promotes the bank’s products and services and refers customers to appropriate personnel.Promotes and maintains positive relationships with customers, co-workers, and community members.Operations & ComplianceComplies with all department and bank policies and procedures.Contributes to the achievement of individual, branch, and organizational goals.Participates in training, meetings, and development opportunities as assigned.High School Diploma or equivalent requiredCash handling experience preferredFamiliarity with online banking, debit card processing, and basic bank product knowledge.Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving abilities.Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.Prior banking or customer service experience is a plusBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteBasic math and problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills
