Job description

We are looking for a reliable individual to process bank transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be the “frontline” of our bank and will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable multi‑tasking and making multiple types of transactions daily, communicate with different types of clients and sell bank’s products/services.

This position combines traditional Teller and Customer Service Representative duties into one position. A Universal Banker is responsible for being knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of teller, deposit accounts and loan functions. Provides accurate cash handling and positive client relations while performing a variety of sales and service functions under supervision. Assists clients with problems or questions regarding their accounts; provides service to new and existing clients by promoting, selling and opening bank products, support lending staff, closing loans etc. In addition the candidate in this position should have at least 2 years of experience in supporting lending staff with documentation, clearing exceptions and processing loans. This position will have loan authority and will be expected to make small consumer non‑real estate loans without much supervision. They will also manage their own loan portfolio, which includes collecting past‑due loans.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct dozens of bank’s routine transactions within time limits and established guidelines (cash checks, accept deposits and loan payments, process withdrawals etc)
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of bank services, products, policies, procedures, and appropriate regulatory issues that relate to daily job functions.
  • Assess customer needs and introduce new products and services (deposit accounts, consumer loans, credit cards, etc.)
  • Make sales referrals, suggest alternate channels and cross‑sell products and services
  • Go the “extra mile” to build trust relationships, customer loyalty and satisfaction
  • Comply with regulatory requirements
  • Manage risk in every transaction and detect fraudulent transactions to prevent losses
  • Resolve customers’ issues and provide relevant information
  • Assist and support relationship managers in managing the branch
Experience and Requirements
  • At least 2 years of proven work experience in banking, personal banking, retail banking or financial services
  • Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g. cash drawers, receipt validators, money counters)
  • Experience working in loan documentation software environment and processing loans
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Customer satisfaction-oriented
  • Attention to detail and mathematical skills
  • Excellent sales skills
  • High school graduate and/or GED equivalent required, BS in Finance, Banking or relevant work experience in branch Banking or customer service field
