Description

Position Summary: The Universal Banker is the core role within the First Federal Lakewood retail branches. There are 3 levels within the Universal Banker job family, each with progressive responsibilities. All Universal Bankers provide exceptional front-line customer service and sales within the branch. The Universal Banker 2, as directed, provides day-to-day guidance to other Universal Bankers, approves transactions, and assigns work. Performs primary and advanced duties including check verification, wire transfers, and facilitation of team meetings.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides excellent customer service by processing transactions and handling account maintenance; responds to customer inquiries in person and via phone, including Customer Relationship Center Support; follows up with customers as necessary.
  2. Monitors activities and acts as a resource for staff; approves transactions; ensures procedures are followed; monitors over/short reports.
  3. Operates teller window as needed, following Branch Operation Guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  4. Maintains vault by ordering and distributing cash to staff, reconciling the vault, and ensuring adequate cash availability.
  5. Opens and closes accounts accurately and in accordance with bank policies and regulations.
  6. Cross-sells bank products and services, making referrals for investment, mortgage, and business banking products.
  7. Handles check verification and wire transfers as needed, maintaining wire transfer certification.
  8. Strives to meet individual, team, and branch performance metrics and sales goals.
  9. Facilitates teamwork, participates in and leads team meetings, completes training, and leads staff training as necessary.
  10. Keeps systems, software, and procedures up to date, including Digital Banking, online services, wire transfer certification, and Webcapture system.
  11. Performs all branch opening and closing duties.
  12. Prepares and monitors reports accurately and timely.
  13. May float to other branches as needed.
  14. Adheres to all bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, anti-money laundering statutes, and federal consumer protection laws.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of banking experience, including cash handling and customer service.
  • 0-2 years of supervisory, mentoring, or team leadership experience (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of banking laws and regulations.
  • Notary Public certification (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
  • Experience with Cleartouch, Nautilus, government and investor software/web portals, and CRM (preferred).
  • Driver's license required for float positions.
Physical Environment

While performing duties, employee must lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, push/pull, and use hands and arms. Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Work environment is usually quiet to moderate noise. Position is in a retail bank setting, requiring work days, hours when branches are open, including weekends and overtime as needed.
