The Universal Banker I role is an entry-level retail banking position responsible for conducting banking transactions and serving bank customers. It involves establishing and updating retail services to meet customer needs, resolving complaints, and offering appropriate solutions. The role also includes opening basic deposit accounts as needed.
Responsibilities
- Process teller counter transactions of varying complexity and assist customers with questions and service needs.
- Engage actively in the local community, including cross-selling and generating new business lines focused on deposit growth.
- Recommend suitable retail accounts and services, explaining their features and benefits to customers.
- Achieve individual sales and customer service goals, contributing to overall branch objectives.
- Inform customers about services offered by other business lines and connect them to appropriate bankers when needed.
- Utilize bank technology and resources to keep customer information current and inform them of additional services.
- Address customer concerns and resolve complaints related to deposit transactions.
- Assist customers with retail service needs such as ATM/Debit cards, overdraft protection, check orders, contact information updates, wires, online banking setup, etc.
- Support less experienced staff with transactions and handle overrides responsibly.
- Identify and resolve outages, assisting colleagues as needed.
- Perform branch operational duties regularly, including opening/closing, balancing accounts, and logging.
- Serve as backup for basic account opening and ownership updates.
- Fill in at various branch locations as required.
- Participate in community events to represent the bank, support outreach, and promote company culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with some related work experience.
- Prefer 1-2 years of experience in customer service roles.
- Banking or financial experience is a plus.
