Job Summary

The Universal Banker is a position that performs both Teller and Platform duties. Responsibilities may vary daily based on branch needs, including processing financial transactions such as opening accounts, cross-selling, servicing accounts, check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments, greeting customers, and conducting customer needs assessments (profiling). The Universal Banker may also research and resolve account issues or customer inquiries, and promote bank products and services by referring customers to appropriate departments.

This position is responsible for meeting sales targets, generating sales and referrals, managing and balancing cash drawers, assisting with teller line and end-of-day functions, and preparing daily paperwork according to branch procedures.

Responsibilities

  1. Sales: Be an expert in financial products, engage clients, discover needs, and recommend solutions. Promote bank products and refer customers to relevant departments.
  2. Service: Resolve customer maintenance requests, deliver superior customer service, assist management with branch operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Oversee branch functions in the absence of the Branch Manager, maintain reports, supervise staff, and ensure adherence to policies. Understand and employ knowledge of bank products/services, make overdraft decisions within authority, and maintain a professional branch environment. Provide ongoing training on regulations like BSA, Reg CC, DD, E. Fill in at teller stations as needed, and follow all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 3 years of retail banking experience including teller experience.
  • Strong math, organizational, computer, customer service, operational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to travel between branches if required.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and access various branch facilities.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications.
