Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Full-Time Day position that blends direct patient care with essential unit clerical duties. The role supports the patient care team under a Clinical Nurse, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and may hold a Unit Secretary training credential, with CPR certification and basic medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CPR may be required.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• CPR certification through AHA or IU Health PCA program; other advanced life support may be required per unit.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Contribute to unit clerical tasks and support patient care team.
• Maintain a clean and orderly patient environment; assist with information and directions.
• May schedule tests/procedures and manage patient records; sign patients in/out.
• May handle equipment and supply delivery for the patient care team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
