Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Full-Time Day Unit Secretary to provide a blend of patient care and unit clerical duties. You will support the care team under a Clinical Nurse, keep the unit orderly, and assist with scheduling tests as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and may require PCA training plus CPR/BLS certification. Basic computer and medical terminology knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program completion.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care and unit clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Provide support to the patient care team and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures and may maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out of the unit and handle equipment and supplies delivery.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
