Job summary

Bethany Christian Services is seeking a Unit Supervisor to lead Youth Specialists, oversee staff supervision, staffing, and budgeting across residential homes. You will ensure safety, compliance, and program quality in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes mission-driven leadership, policy adherence, and ongoing staff development in a faith-based child welfare environment. On-site operations require strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have one of the following education/experience paths: HS diploma + 4 years in child care setting; 2-year college + 3 years in child care; or Bachelor's + 2 years in child care.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to manage teams.
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and program operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance with policies, and ability to maintain records.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, and lead Youth Specialist(s) and facilitate weekly meetings.
  • Provide weekly individual and team supervision to supervisory staff.
  • Cultivate a positive, team-centered work environment.
  • Participate in weekly staff and resident meetings.
  • Responsible for financials, budget, and spending of the homes.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures for staff evaluations, timekeeping, and reimbursements.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of the program’s operating manual.
  • Hire, onboard, and train staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Stay abreast of agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements for social services.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

How Your Role Makes a Difference

  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event;

What Will Make You Successful
  • Must have one of the following:
  • High School Diploma and four (4) years of work experience in a child caring institution or;
  • Two (2) years of college from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of work experience in a child caring institution or;
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of work experience in a child caring institution;
  • Successfully pass a federal fingerprint screening may be required;
  • Provide weekly, unannounced rounds in the classrooms and/or all areas where children congregate to ensure safety, wellbeing, and best practice of care in these areas;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident;
  • Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Exhibit integrity and good moral character to provide appropriate care;
  • Possess the relevant experience and/or qualifications to work with these clients and clients with special needs; and,
  • Be properly trained and licensed, as necessary.
  • Must be able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route:
    • TDap or Tdap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one Tdap dose in adulthood.
    • Results of medical examination (as required by State Licensing, including results of TB tests and immunization records).
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
