About the Role

The Unit Manager - is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical management of a designated nursing unit to ensure the delivery of high‑quality patient care. This role involves leading and mentoring nursing staff, coordinating patient care activities, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. The Unit Manager collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the individual needs of residents. Additionally, the position requires managing resources efficiently, including staffing, budgeting, and supplies, to optimize unit performance. Ultimately, the Unit Manager plays a critical role in fostering a supportive and safe environment that promotes positive health outcomes and resident satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a long‑term care or rehabilitation setting.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare management software.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) or similar.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies and regulatory survey processes.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and team‑building skills.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support nursing staff to ensure adherence to clinical standards and best practices.

  • Oversee inventory management and ordering of medical supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to facilitate effective communication.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to policy development within the unit.

Required Education and Experience
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State.
  • 3 years’ experience in a Supervisor role in healthcare, Long‑Term Care experience preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing facility administration.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Strong utilization knowledge of Point Click Care.
  • Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet).
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
