Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead design, development, integration, test, and flight qualification of advanced AESA spaceborne payloads. You will drive architecture, prototyping, and verification, coordinating RF, digital, power, and software teams to meet schedule and customer needs.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in electronics hardware with Ka-band antenna experience, strong systems engineering background, and proven leadership in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on flight hardware.
• Proven track record with Ka-band antennas and AESA technology.
• Strong skills in system engineering practices, requirements flowdown, verification/validation.
• Experience with environmental tests (TVAC, vib/shock, EMC) and flight qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering for AESA unit development including architecture, design, prototyping, integration, and flight readiness.
• Coordinate RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers to ensure timely execution.
• Own schedule accountability and deliverables for box development.
• Develop payload control schemes, data interfaces, and firmware/software integration as needed.
• Manage flight qualification activities and transition to volume production with manufacturability in mind.
