Job summary

CesiumAstro in Colorado is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and flight qualification of advanced spaceborne payloads. You will own the AESA box from architecture through environmental testing, coordinating RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems teams.

The role requires a strong background in Ka-band AESAs, board RF electronics, and manufacturability, plus leadership and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of hardware development experience.
• Experience with active phased array antennas.
• Strong knowledge of RF electronics and antennas.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AESA Unit Lead and primary technical contact for the box.
• Lead end-to-end engineering from architecture to flight readiness.
• Coordinate RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers.
• Own schedule accountability for the box development.
• Develop and review payload control schemes and firmware interfaces.
• Manage flight qualification activities including environmental tests.
• Own transition to volume production and customer documentation.
• Generate and maintain box-level design documentation.
• Interface with spacecraft systems engineers and customers.
• Lead root-cause analysis and risk mitigation.
• Communicate status and design decisions to leadership and customers.
