Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to replenish and bill for patient medications, and prepare unit-dose medications for patients at Shands facilities. The role involves maintaining the distribution area and coordinating purchasing, receiving, and inventory control functions to ensure smooth operations.

Qualified candidates will have high school education and may hold a pharmacy technician training certificate or certification; hospital or retail pharmacy experience and inventory skills

Qualifications

• Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.
• Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.

Responsibilities

• Replenish and bill for patient medications in medication carts and maintain distribution area.
• Prepare unit-dose medications for patients.
• Coordinate pharmaceutical purchasing, receiving, distribution, and inventory control.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Shands Hospital Technician Training Program (any of listed)

ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program

College-based Pharmacy Technician Training Program

1 year hospital pharmacy technician experience

1 year retail pharmacy technician experience

1 year pharmaceutical inventory function experience

1 year science-based college study (incl. Algebra)

1 year transcribing/interpreting physician orders + 12 credits of science

Active PTCB certification
