Job summary

SSC Services for Education, part of Compass Group USA, is seeking a Unit Director to oversee janitorial operations in an educational setting. You will supervise supervisors and hourly staff, ensure cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction, and coordinate all work activities across shifts.

You will assign duties, inspect work, handle complaints, manage inventories, train staff, and report to managers. Strong leadership, budgeting awareness, and excellent communication are essential traits

Qualifications

• One to two years as supervisor in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required.
• Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
• Ability to engage and motivate staff.
• Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work with heavy cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Working as Unit Director you will be responsible for the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and security of the assigned buildings.
• Coordinate all work activities of janitorial personnel and supervise, direct, and develop supervisors and hourly employees.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through high quality standards and a safe, equitable environment.
• Assign duties, inspect work, investigate complaints, and take corrective action.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, conduct periodic inventories of supplies, and manage supplies and materials.
• Train, discipline, and recommend dismissals of employees.
• Act as liaison between occupants/administrators and supervisors to communicate directives to janitorial staff.
