SSC Services For Education is seeking an Unit Custodial Director in Columbia, SC. The role oversees cleanliness, sanitation, and security, directing janitorial teams, and ensuring high standards while maintaining safety. Strong leadership, budgeting, and communication are essential for success.

The position requires managing multiple shifts, training staff, and coordinating tasks to meet deadlines and budgets. Industry knowledge and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred.
• 1–2 years as supervisor in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer contact.
• Strong work ethic, initiative for quality and customer service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate staff.
• Understanding of budgeting and profit/loss concepts.
• Excellent time management and prioritization.
• Valid driver’s license for safe operation of company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Communicates between shifts to ensure completion of tasks.
• Trains workers in janitorial methods and equipment.
• Issues supplies and equipment for quality and timely delivery.
• Performs daily inspections and follows through on assignments.
• Cross trains and develops personnel for multiple positions.
• Holds weekly staff reports and inspections.
• Meets with staff weekly to review tasks and projects.
• Secures buildings after work and ensures timely completion within budget.
• Reports budgetary issues.
