Job summary

SSC Services for Education, part of Compass Group, is seeking a Unit Director to oversee janitorial operations in school facilities. You will supervise and develop supervisors and hourly staff, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and security across the assigned buildings.

The role emphasizes coordinating work, maintaining equipment and supplies, and delivering high-quality service with safety and equity in mind. On-site position with hybrid/full-time scheduling options available.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years supervisory experience in housekeeping or service field with high customer contact.
• Strong work ethic and initiative for quality and service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate staff.
• Understanding of budgeting and P&L concepts.

Responsibilities

• Communicate between shifts to ensure task completion.
• Train workers in janitorial methods and equipment operation.
• Issue supplies and equipment to ensure timely service.
• Perform daily inspections and follow up on assignments.
• Cross-train staff for multiple positions.
• Hold weekly staff reports and inspections.
• Meet with staff weekly to review tasks and future projects.
• Secure buildings after work and ensure safety.
