Job summary

Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club is seeking a Unit Coordinator – Park Street to support the Teen Program site(s) in Champaign, IL. The role works with the Unit Director to deliver high-quality activities, manage staff, and maintain a safe environment for members aged 11–17.

This full-time, hourly position offers comprehensive benefits, a schedule during the school year of 11:00AM–8:00PM, with summer hours from 7:30AM–6:30PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field or four years’ youth development experience.
  • Minimum two years direct staff supervision or management of a team of 10+.
  • Direct programming experience with youth development programs preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule based on program needs.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support Unit Director in implementing site programs and activities.
  • Ensure safe, clean facilities and appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise front desk staff and volunteers; manage attendance data.
  • Lead training for staff on program quality and data collection.
  • Prepare schedules and assist with outreach and volunteer onboarding.

Summary of Position

The Unit Coordinator – Park Street is responsible for supporting the management and supervision of the day-to-day operations at DMBGC’s Teen Program site(s), assuring high-quality programs, services, and support are delivered to Club members aged 11-17. This position supports the Unit Director in the implementation of high-yield programming for youth, positive member and family relations and engagement, and supervision to front desk staff and volunteers to provide a safe and secure environment to members. This is a full-time, hourly position with excellent benefits. The schedule for this position during the school year is 11:00AM-8:00PM, Monday through Friday; the schedule for this position during summer camp operations is an eight-hour day between 7:30AM-6:30PM, Monday through Friday.

Leadership and Supervision
  • Support Unit Director and ICJIA Program Director in implementing site programs, activities, and services that support Club mission and vision
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Provide support to staff in classroom and behavior management
  • Support Unit Director and program staff in the development and implementation of programming and activities that are developmentally appropriate for Club members
Program Quality and Safety
  • Supports in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate programs that support DMBGC’s five core program areas
  • Provides support to staff in recording and tracking daily attendance and program participation
  • Provide site and classroom supervision to ensure safe environments and well‑maintained facilities, equipment, and supplies
Data and Compliance
  • Work with Unit Director to ensure daily attendance and program participation data reflect accurate program attendance and monitor outcomes
  • Serve as lead in report card data collection process (working with member families, schools, and teachers) and support relationships with area schools and educational partners
  • Support, implement, or lead staff training initiatives relating to program quality and data collection
  • Provides training and supervision to Front Desk Clerk in the MyClubHub membership database; ensures accurate data entry and records
Administrative and Communications
  • Support with the creation of staff and programming schedules and monitor staff and youth attendance
  • Conduct volunteer orientation by providing comprehensive introduction to Club services and volunteer responsibilities; works with Human Resources department to conduct volunteer background and reference checks and onboard new volunteers
  • Support the development of marketing materials to represent a positive Club image
  • As approved or directed by the Unit Director, conduct outreach events and attend external meetings or events as appropriate to market Club activities and create relationships
Additional Responsibilities
  • May be required to operate Club vehicle
  • May be required to directly lead programming
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends to support special events and programming
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred (elementary education, psychology, child or human development, social work), or four years’ experience with a youth development organization
  • Two or more years direct staff supervision or management of a team of 10+
  • Previous experience with a youth development organization (direct programming preferred)
  • Ability to work flexible schedule based upon program/organizational needs.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly desirable
  • Strong youth group and behavior management skills
  • Willingness and ability to engage and be actively involved in youth recreational activities
  • Valid Driver’s License and be approved by the Club's auto insurance provider
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance:Comprehensive coverage for eligible full-time employees, with DMBGC covering 100% of individual health insurance premiums. Dependent coverage is available via payroll deduction. Coverage begins the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • Paid Time Off:Two weeks of vacation earned annually, 11 paid holidays, and sick time accrual at 1.85 hours per pay period.
  • Retirement Plan:DMBGC contributes 10% of your annual salary to a pension account after one year of continuous employment. Employees are fully vested after three years. Voluntary 403(b) contributions are also available.

  • Pay: This is an hourly, non‑exempt position - the pay range is $21-$25 an hour which is dependent upon experience
