Title: Youth Development Professional (YDP) – 21st Century CCLC
Department: Program
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Salary: Full time (25–30 hours per week). Hourly $15.00–$18.00; Annualized $23,400–$28,080.
Reports To: Program Director
Typical Work Schedule: School year: Monday‑Friday, 2 pm–7 pm. Summer: Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am–5 pm. Occasional nights and weekends with notice.
Primary Purpose
This 12‑month grant‑funded position is vital to delivering quality programs in arts, technology, recreation, education, and physical education. The YDP plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates programs, promoting a positive, fun, clean, and safe atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Create weekly lesson plans for submission to the Program Director by the end of each week.
- Encourage members to participate in diverse program areas and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote and market programs to members.
- Maintain professionalism and enthusiasm when interacting with youth, parents, volunteers, staff, and community.
- Mentor and encourage members to develop self‑esteem.
- Contribute to the club’s overall climate for personal growth.
- Manage administrative functions and assigned resources.
- Keep the area of responsibility neat, clean, and attractive.
- Maintain inventory of equipment; report discrepancies or safety concerns to the Program Director or Quality Assurance Director.
- Lead group clubs for members.
- Document youth interests.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Daily duties include:
- Greeting members upon arrival.
- Assist with Power Hour program.
- Keep accurate attendance and participation records.
- Implement club rules and regulations to ensure health and safety.
- Report disturbances or behavioral issues to the Program Director.
- All other duties as assigned.
Other Occasional Responsibilities
- Prepare and facilitate Positive Actions sessions; engage members, take attendance, ensure pre/post tests are completed; report implementation issues and complete evaluation forms.
- Prepare and present Botvin Life Skills Training Curriculum sessions; ensure pre/post tests, report issues, complete online evaluation.
- Oversee special programs/events and participate in unit activities as needed.
- Drive the Club van/mini‑bus periodically to transport members.
Requirements
Certification / Association
- Registered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.mybgca.net).
- Complete required assigned trainings.
- Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Strongly encouraged: valid CDL Driver’s License with Passenger & Air Brake Endorsement for member transportation.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior youth work experience in paid or volunteer capacity preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in various computer software programs.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Prolonged standing, walking, talking, hearing, sitting, bending; may kneel, run, climb.
- Use telephone and office equipment.
- Lift, move, manipulate or hold objects up to 25 pounds; heavier items require assistance.
