Job summary

Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading seeks a unit secretary to provide general clerical support for a specific unit, including receptionist duties, transcription and processing of physician orders, and coordination of unit communications with other hospital departments.

This role supports the safe, efficient operations of Nursing Service. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; BLS is required before orientation ends, with preferred experience in medical terminology.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Six months of related experience.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to end of orientation.
  • Preferred: prior unit secretary experience or medical terminology course.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Six (6) months related experience
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – required prior to the end of the orientation period
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Previous unit secretary experience and/or completion of medical terminology course preferred
