Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is seeking a Unit Coordinator for our Emergency Department. The role involves working under the supervision of a nurse or provider to deliver patient care, including preparing patients, taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, setting up rooms, and assisting during treatments. The coordinator maintains patient records, manages reports, and ensures proper documentation from ancillary departments.

This position requires compliance with all applicable health care laws and policies. It is a Per Diem position with options for FT/PT shifts. Copley Hospital offers various shifts across full-time, part-time, and temporary roles. Please apply to discuss your availability.

Responsibilities

1. Perform venous access and laboratory draws as trained.
2. Apply temporary splints and provide crutch instructions.
3. Obtain EKGs, vital signs, and assist with patient care under RN delegation.
4. Arrange ambulance transfers and handle related documentation.
5. Work within the scope of practice for EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic licensed in Vermont, under supervision.
6. Answer phones and refer calls appropriately.
7. Perform quick registration in CPSI if needed.
8. Assess patient condition changes and report to nurse.
9. Complete ongoing training and education.
10. Provide age-appropriate care and understand medical laws and ethics.
11. Follow policies for admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
12. Maintain the work area and ED waiting room properly.
13. Manage departmental supplies and reports, including scanning documents into medical records.
14. Coordinate with ancillary departments for tests and obtain medical records.
15. Orient new staff to the unit.
16. Set up procedures and assist with procedures within scope of practice.
17. Transport or escort patients as needed.
18. For advanced EMTs/Paramedics, safely transport and monitor patients requiring telemetry.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Nursing Assistant or EMT, CPR certified.

Skills: Medical terminology, computer skills, communication skills, cardiac rhythm recognition.
