Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Unit Coordinator to join our team in the Emergency Department! Works under the supervision of a nurse or provider to deliver patient care to emergency room patients. This includes preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, setting-up rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, and assisting physicians and nurses during treatments. Responsible for maintaining accurate written records and reports, including patient medical records, chart forms for physician and nursing personnel, and reports from ancillary departments.

Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing healthcare provision is required.

This is a Per Diem position with options for Full-Time or Part-Time employment. Copley Hospital offers various shifts across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Temporary roles. Please consider applying to discuss how your availability may align.

Responsibilities
  • Perform venous access and laboratory draws safely and accurately after training modules.
  • Apply temporary splints following provided training.
  • Provide patients with crutch use instructions.
  • Obtain EKGs, vital signs, visual acuity, apply simple dressings, and assist with ambulation and patient care under the delegation of the Primary RN.
  • Arrange ambulance transfers and manage related documentation.
  • Work within the scope of practice for EMS-licensed Emergency Medical Technicians under supervision or delegation of a provider or RN.
  • Answer phones and direct calls appropriately.
  • Perform Quick-Registration in CPSI for ED patients if necessary.
  • Assess patient condition changes and report to the nurse.
  • Complete ongoing training and department-specific education.
  • Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Understand basic medical laws and ethics, such as consent and confidentiality.
  • Follow policies for patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Maintain the work area and ED waiting room appropriately.
  • Keep departmental manuals and files up to date.
  • Manage supplies efficiently to ensure smooth operations and avoid waste.
  • Maintain ancillary reports and scan them into the medical record as needed.
  • Obtain medical records from the Health Information Department and other facilities.
  • Order and maintain supplies for the ED.
  • Order tests from labs and ancillary departments per patient chart notes.
  • Orient new employees to the unit.
  • Stay current with emergency procedures and medical terminology.
  • Set up trays and assist with procedures within scope of practice.
  • Show flexibility in working hours based on census needs.
  • Transport or escort patients to various hospital areas.
  • Advanced EMT/Paramedic: after completing telemetry training, safely transport stable patients requiring telemetry and remain with them during diagnostics, following protocol.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licensed Nursing Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); CPR Certification.
