Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Unit Assistant who primarily performs clerical tasks and supports unit operations. Under supervision of the Nurse Manager and Supervisor, you will coordinate patient flow, verify charts, perform quick registrations for ambulance or expedited patients, and ensure proper patient identifiers are used.

• Prior nursing secretary experience in health care desired.
• Organizational skills required to prioritize workload.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals, groups and to interact with people at all levels, to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Responsibilities

• Clerical duties including monitoring orders, quick registrations, chart preparation and patient data handling.
• Unit duties such as keeping supplies stocked, answering call lights, assisting with non-clinical patient care and maintaining a clean, orderly unit.
