Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a nursing unit clerk to support the nursing team on the assigned unit. Under RN supervision, you will perform clerical and receptionist duties, transcribe orders, and maintain patient charts and unit supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.

We value knowledge of medical terminology, strong typing and phone etiquette, and 6 months to 1 year of related experience. A high school diploma or GED is required, with CPI training due within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology a must.
• Must have proficient organizational skills and computer skills.
• 6 months – 1-year continuous experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of proper telephone etiquette, and strong typing skills are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties as assigned by the nurse or physician
• Transcribes physicians' orders, and maintains chart records and other files.
• Answers phones and routes calls to the appropriate parties
• Uses resources in an efficient and cost effective manner.
• Maintains and promotes a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration.
• Assures that patient equipment and supplies are available and are in operating condition.
• Orders and stocks the necessary equipment for the unit
• Maintains knowledge of and conforms to Hospital policy/procedures.
• Assists department manager with various clerical duties as directed
• All duties described above are applicable in the following Adult, Adolescent, Geriatric, Childrens, State Civil, and State Forensic units
