Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a unit Clerk/Receptionist for night shifts on the Behavioral Health unit. Under RN supervision, you will transcribe orders, maintain patient charts, and ensure unit supplies are stocked and accessible.

You will use medical terminology, demonstrate strong typing and computer skills, and provide courteous telephone assistance while supporting a collaborative healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient organizational skills and computer skills.
• 6 months – 1 year continuous experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties as assigned by the nurse or physician.
• Transcribes physicians' orders, and maintains chart records and other files.
• Answers phones and routes calls to the appropriate parties.
• Uses resources in an efficient and cost effective manner.
• Maintains and promotes a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration.
• Assures that patient equipment and supplies are available and are in operating condition.
• Orders and stocks the necessary equipment for the unit.
• Maintains knowledge of and conforms to Hospital policy/procedures.
• Assists department manager with various clerical duties as directed.
• All duties described above are applicable in the following Adult, Adolescent, Geriatric, Childrens, State Civil, and State Forensic units
