Job summary

Great Salt Plains Health Center is seeking a Unit Clerk / Clinical Assistant to provide clerical, telephone, patient-flow, and clinical support. The role screens calls, assists clinical staff, and serves as a liaison to ensure smooth patient care and efficient operations.

You will maintain patient confidentiality, manage documents, and support the care team while adapting to interruptions and changing priorities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• On-the-job training provided; healthcare experience preferred.
• Basic typing and computer skills; telephone experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions.
• Flexibility to adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Maintains professional demeanor and supports mission and standards.
• Screens, routes phone calls and nurse station voicemails.
• Enters telephone encounters and documents patient communications.
• Returns patient calls and addresses complaints per policy.
• Acts as liaison between patients and staff to ensure smooth flow.
• Follows infection control and isolation precautions.
• Provides clerical support and manages documents and faxing.
• Assists with obtaining patient records.
• May work remotely at supervisor’s discretion.
• Prepares patients for visits, rooms patients, updates medication lists.
• Obtains basic vitals and performs documentation for visits.
• Checks out patients and schedules follow-ups.
