Job summary

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Unit Based to execute evidence-based nursing education on the unit. The role will lead learning initiatives, mentor staff and drive practice improvements in collaboration with the Center for Clinical Education & Professional Practice Development.

Ideal candidates have a Master’s in Nursing, RN license in WA, and several years in acute care settings with education or NPD roles.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
• PhD in Nursing, DNP, or ARNP preferred.
• Registered Nurse license in Washington State or multi-state licensure endorsement (MSL).
• ANCC NPD specialty certification preferred; if not, must acquire within two years of hire.
• Minimum four years of acute care nursing practice.
• Minimum three years of program management experience within an education role preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience as unit educator, system educator, NPD Specialist/Generalist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operationalize tools, theories, skills and knowledge of nursing professional development to improve evidence-based practice on the assigned unit(s).
• Serve as learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader and advocate for NPD specialty and practice transitions.
• Collaborate with Center for Clinical Education & Professional Practice Development program managers and unit leaders to plan onboarding, competency management and continuing education.
