Job summary

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Unit Based to execute evidence-based nursing education on the unit. The role will lead learning initiatives, mentor staff and drive practice improvements in collaboration with the Center for Clinical Education & Professional Practice Development.

Ideal candidates have a Master’s in Nursing, RN license in WA, and several years in acute care settings with education or NPD roles.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
PhD in Nursing, DNP, or ARNP preferred.
Registered Nurse license in Washington State or multi-state licensure endorsement (MSL).
ANCC NPD specialty certification preferred; if not, must acquire within two years of hire.
Minimum four years of acute care nursing practice.
Minimum three years of program management experience within an education role preferred.
Minimum three years of experience as unit educator, system educator, NPD Specialist/Generalist preferred.

Responsibilities

Operationalize tools, theories, skills and knowledge of nursing professional development to improve evidence-based practice on the assigned unit(s).
Serve as learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader and advocate for NPD specialty and practice transitions.
Collaborate with Center for Clinical Education & Professional Practice Development program managers and unit leaders to plan onboarding, competency management and continuing education.
