Job summary

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Unit Based to operationalize education and evidence-based practice across the assigned unit(s). The role encompasses learning facilitation, change leadership and mentorship to advance nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in Nursing and RN licensure in Washington, with ANCC NPD certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
• RN license in WA or multi-state licensure endorsement preferred (MSL).
• ANCC NPD specialty certification preferred; if not possessed at hire, must acquire within two years of hire.
• Minimum four (4) years of acute care nursing practice.
• Minimum three (3) years of program management experience within an education role preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience as unit educator, system educator, NPD Specialist/Generalist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operationalize tools, theories, skills and knowledge of nursing professional development on the assigned unit/department(s).
• Act as learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader and advocate for NPD specialty and practice transitions.
• Engage in assessment of practice gaps, root cause analysis, learning needs, outcomes, planning and evaluation.
• Coordinate onboarding/orientation, competency management and continuing education initiatives.
• Collaborate with practice partners to advance evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
