Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an administrative professional to support the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) on a part-time schedule with two 12-hour day shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, at UAB St. Vincent's East.

The role encompasses front-desk duties, patient scheduling, care coordination, and chart maintenance within a busy clinical environment. The successful candidate will greet patients, manage calls, relay information to healthcare teams, assist with order entry processes, and help coordinate

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
