Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking an Unit Administrative Assistant to support interprofessional teams in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. This role handles transfers and transports for procedures, responds to nurse calls, and maintains patient-centered communication across the unit.

The UAA also manages unit workflows and supports throughputs with timely, precise information while upholding ICARE values.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of secretarial/office, college/vocational training or patient care
• Prior health care experience and/or medical terminology preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt and personalized service to all patients and responds to the nurse call system.
• Communicates positively with health care team members and reports patient data accurately.
• Organizes unit workflow and coordinates daily tasks, prioritizing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
• Assists with calls to physicians, bed management, and transfer services to ensure smooth patient throughput.
• Role models professional behavior to improve patient satisfaction and unit performance.
