Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in Newtown, CT is seeking an experienced Maintenence Compactor Repair Technician / Welder for our Container Shop. The role is full-time, union, with hours 7AM–4:30PM, Monday to Friday and some Saturdays.

You will perform welding (MIG, stick, torch) repairs, service compactors and related equipment, and maintain safety according to OSHA standards. Union benefits and retirement options are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in MIG, stick, and torch welding.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for repairing compactors and containers.
• Skill in operating repair tools and reading technical drawings.
• Good reading/listening skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Basic math understanding related to welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and basic welding.
• Repair compactors, containers, carts, and dumpsters.
• Maintain preventive maintenance and diagnose electrical/hydraulic systems.
• Conduct safety checks on equipment.
• Document repairs using fleet maintenance software.
• Perform service calls for repair.
• Work from prints and set-ups, read dimensions.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area per OSHA standards.
