Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking an experienced Maintenence Compactor Repair Technician / Mechanic who also welds for our Newtown, CT Container Shop. This full-time, union, non-exempt hourly role runs 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays based on business needs.

The position offers excellent union benefits, 401K, overtime pay, and a health and retirement security account. Starting pay ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience welding with MIG, stick, and torch on various materials.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for repair work.
• Ability to read drawings and follow instructions.
• Basic math skills related to welding and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and apply basic welding processes.
• Repair compactors, containers, carts, and dumpsters.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems on compactors.
• Conduct safety checks on compactors and containers.
• Complete paperwork using fleet maintenance software and document repair times.
• Perform service calls for compactor repair.
• Work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
• Maintain clean, safe work area per OSH standards.
