Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Payroll Accountant to manage union payroll for a large workforce. The role offers remote work within the Eastern Time Zone with optional hybrid access for Virginia-based staff.

The candidate will handle full-cycle payroll, audits, reconciliations, and payroll reporting while ensuring compliance with CBAs and state rules. Strong Excel and experience with Paycom/UKG/Kronos are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of payroll experience with a bachelor’s degree or eight years with no degree.
• Experience with union payroll processing required.
• Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements and complex payroll rules.
• Experience supporting high-volume payroll for a large employee population.
• Multi-state payroll processing experience required.
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, benefits, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, biweekly payroll for a large employee population.
• Review, calculate, and validate wages, overtime, deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related transactions.
• Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and contract-specific payroll requirements.
• Support union and multi-state payroll processing.
• Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and pre-/post-payroll reviews.
• Prepare and analyze payroll reports using Excel.
• Reconcile payroll activity to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Research and resolve payroll issues accurately and within deadlines.
• Support payroll tax compliance, reporting, and audit requests.
• Maintain payroll documentation and employee records.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting and other departments.
• Improve payroll workflows, controls, and processing efficiency.
• Support optimization of payroll systems and processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive information.
• Work extended payroll-processing hours every other Monday when needed.
• Must reside and work within the Eastern Time Zone.
