Job summary

CFS in Santa Clara, CA is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. This hands-on role handles weekly payroll processing for both union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prevailing wage requirements.

The ideal candidate will manage certified payroll, wage rates, fringe benefits, and payroll reporting, while collaborating with HR and operations to resolve issues. Experience with multiple union agreements and ERP systems is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience.
• Strong union payroll experience required.
• Certified payroll and/or prevailing wage experience required.
• Construction or project-based environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.
• Review and interpret union agreements, wage rates, benefit requirements, and fringe calculations.
• Calculate regular wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments.
• Process and maintain certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.
• Prepare union reports and coordinate benefit payments.
• Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with applicable union agreements and company policies.
• Review payroll for accuracy and audit payroll records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with general ledger reporting.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
• Work closely with HR, accounting, employees, and field teams to resolve payroll questions and issues.
• Assist with payroll reporting, audits, year-end processes, and tax-related requirements.
• Stay current on changes to union agreements, wage rates, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Help identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
