Job summary

SSA Conventional, Inc. is seeking an Operations Labor Manager in Port Hueneme, CA, to oversee union labor, equipment, and resources across rotating shifts. You will guide labor relations, safety compliance, and operational execution while maintaining productivity and adherence to CBAs and company policy.

The role requires leadership, strong planning, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably 3 years managing union labor in a comparable environment.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
• Current CPR certification.
• Working knowledge of terminal operations, cargo stowage and stability, and local union dispatching rules.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Familiarity with computerized terminal operating systems.
• Knowledge of applicable safety and accident-prevention codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate hiring, assignment, direction, evaluation, and discipline of union labor personnel.
• Direct the work of foremen and supervisory clerks based on needs and labor availability.
• Interpret and enforce collective bargaining agreements in daily operations.
• Investigate workplace incidents, safety violations, and labor complaints and report findings.
• Determine workforce composition and equipment needs to execute plans safely and within budget.
• Manage deployment of labor and equipment across shifts and adjust as conditions change.
• Monitor productivity and implement corrective actions to meet standards.
• Review operational docs and ensure equipment and gear are ready and compliant.
• Enforce safety policies, conduct daily safety meetings, and address hazards.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and PPE usage.
• Coordinate with vessel personnel, customers, and terminal staff; troubleshoot systems.
• Submit shift production, payroll, safety, and damage reports on time.
