Job summary

JLL in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an Operating Engineer Apprentice to support the local 68 program. You will operate central plant equipment, monitor systems, and respond to tenant needs while maintaining safe, efficient building operations.

Responsibilities include training colleagues, coordinating with vendors, and following emergency procedures, under the guidance of senior engineers in a fast-paced facilities team environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Enrolled in Local 68 Apprenticeship Program.
• Must be a member of Local 68 union or willing to join on hire.
• Strong customer service skills with tenants.
• Solid written and verbal communication across levels.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform general maintenance on central plant equipment and monitoring systems.
• Respond promptly to tenant requests and maintain positive relations.
• Conduct all maintenance with established safety procedures.
• Monitor building systems and present solutions to leadership.
• Assist in training personnel on operation and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain readiness for current emergency procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors and external vendors to support operations.
