Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. seeks a Union Engineer in New York City to operate, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related equipment.

You will work within the Engineering and Technical Services function, providing preventive maintenance, repairs, and support to keep building systems running smoothly. The role requires a NYC Fire Department Q-01/Q-99 qualification and multiple NYC FFCs, plus strong communication, organization, and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Certificate of Qualification (Q-01/Q-99) for Refrigeration System Operating Engineer issued by the New York City Fire Department.
• At least five of the following certificates of fitness issued by the New York City Fire Department: A35, F60, G60, S12, S13, S14, S95, F01, P98, P99.
• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience.
• Meet the physical requirements and be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.

Responsibilities

• Have thorough knowledge of the building’s mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure and operation.
• Perform maintenance and repairs of equipment incidental to building mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Perform general labor such as receiving deliveries, loading/unloading, moving materials, and stocking.
• Maintain housekeeping in mechanical/HVAC spaces, including sweeping, mopping, and painting.
• Lead building checks of mechanical areas and log conditions during daily rounds.
• Coach others and share in-depth knowledge across multiple disciplines.
• Manage shift personnel and ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain required licenses and certificates.
• Respond to emergencies and summon needed assistance.
• Explain difficult or sensitive information.
