Job summary

Veit is seeking to fill a heavy equipment operator role on our construction sites. The position requires operating various heavy machines, following OSHA and Veit safety procedures, and reporting issues to site leaders.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of equipment experience, with the ability to read site plans and work extended shifts, including weekends. Union affiliation may be required, and travel is possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with some equipment operation experience.
• Capable of reading grade stakes, site plans, and following directions.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment on site or highway construction tasks.
• Performs routine inspections and notifies supervisors of needed repairs.
• Assists in training entry-level workers as needed.
• Maintains communication with foreman about site conditions.
• Travels as required and works long shifts including weekends.
