Job summary

GE Aerospace in the United States is seeking a skilled carpenter to measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials, construct and install building frameworks, and inspect/replace damaged components. The role includes setting stairs, flooring, and trim, and reading blueprints to determine dimensions.

You will work with hand and power tools, operate furniture or scaffolding safely, and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Two-year A.A.S. degree or equivalent with 2 years of experience.
  • Military advanced training in applicable field plus 2 yrs experience.
  • High school diploma/GED with Journeyman credentials in applicable field.
  • Role may involve high risk or hazardous operations and must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Install forms, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, concrete, plastics, and composites.
  • Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, trim using a carpenter’s level and laser levels.
  • Fit, sand, install doors and windows including trim and hardware.
  • Study blueprints to prepare project layout and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a safe, clean environment.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors or other wooden fixtures.
  • Construct and set stairs; prepare sub floor and install flooring.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Install forms, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
  • Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
  • Fit, sand, install doors and windows including trim and hardware.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Construct and sets stair work.
  • Prepare sub floor and apply finished flooring.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using tools.
  • Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
  • Walls and Partitions – Lays out, cuts, assembles, erects, and applies materials and component parts.
  • Ceilings – Lays out, cuts, assembles and installs materials and component parts: hangers, channels, furring and backing boards.
  • Move necessary materials around jobsite as assigned.
  • Clean up worksite debris.
  • Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Order / pickup materials and parts for job execution
  • Use current work order system to process and complete job assignments
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team with minimal supervision while supporting lean initiatives and maintaining a team-oriented approach.
Minimum Requirements
  • A.A.S. two-year degree or equivalent in applicable field of study plus 2 yrs experience OR
  • Military advanced training in applicable field plus 2 yrs experience OR
  • High school degree/GED Journeyman credentials in applicable field.
  • This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

The hourly pay range for this position $ 42.82- $50.66 per hour. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This posting is expected to close on November 21st, 2026.
