Job summary

Pottsgrove Middle School in Pottstown, PA is seeking a part-time Unified Bocce Leadership Advisor to organize and oversee the Unified Indoor Bocce intramural season for grades 6-8. The advisor will recruit diverse student participation, manage teams, and coordinate with staff and Special Olympics Pennsylvania for resources and training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the Unified Indoor Bocce intramural program for students in grades 6-8 during an 8-10 week season.
• Schedule and supervise practices and games one or two times per week, ensuring students participate for at least 75 minutes weekly.
• Recruit and support student participation by balancing Special Olympics-eligible athletes with others.
• Organize and manage Unified Sports teams, minimum two teams, expanding to four-six as appropriate.
• Promote an inclusive athletic environment emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, friendship, respect and meaningful participation.
• Complete required Special Olympics Pennsylvania training, including the Unified Sports online course.
• Manage program logistics and documentation (equipment, schedules, rosters, attendance, communication).
• Establish and facilitate an Inclusive Youth Leadership Club with meetings monthly or bi-monthly.
• Develop student leadership opportunities to promote inclusion and collaboration.
• Facilitate four whole-school engagement activities to improve climate and acceptance.
• Collaborate with staff and Special Olympics Pennsylvania for resources and ideas.
• Promote a culture of inclusion fostering student voice and belonging.
