Job summary

DC Government seeks an attorney to represent DOES, OUC in complex unemployment insurance hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings, reviewing and preparing cases, presenting the agency’s position, and ensuring all materials meet deadlines.

The role requires deep knowledge of federal and DC unemployment laws, regulatory research, and the ability to analyze case law to advise leadership and support agency operations.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience required related to unemployment insurance or administrative law.
• Graduate of an ABA-accredited law school with potential for government/government agency experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent DOES/OUC in unemployment insurance hearings before the DC Office of Administrative Hearings.
• Review, analyze, and prepare UI determinations and agency positions.
• Prepare evidence, briefs, motions, and other documents to support the agency’s position.
• Ensure case materials are accurate, complete, organized, and transmitted within deadlines.
• Conduct extensive legal/regulatory research on unemployment compensation and administrative law.
