Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking an Administrative Hearing Officer for Oklahoma City to conduct hearings, determine eligibility, and issue decisions in unemployment-related matters in accordance with federal and state law.

The role requires strong analytical and writing skills, due process adherence, and the ability to manage complex case records. This is a full-time position with standard business hours and a salary range of $70,000–$80,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Level II - bachelor’s degree and 3 years in adjudicative or legal work as primary duty, plus 1 year as Administrative Hearing Officer; or juris doctorate plus 1 year as Administrative Hearing Officer.
  • Level I - bachelor’s degree and 3 years in adjudicative or legal work as primary duty; or juris doctorate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hearings and determine the validity of claims in accordance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Determine issues to be resolved in appeals cases and take evidence to meet standards for quality and timeliness of dispositions.
  • Render decisions that are binding as law affirming or denying previous rulings.
  • Independently analyze findings of fact, research case law, and may remand cases for further investigation.
  • Question witnesses, rule on objections, review evidence, and ensure due process for each party.
  • Prepare for appeal hearings by researching applicable laws and regulations.
