Responsibilities

  • Partner with underwriters to support underwriting activities including preparing modeling requests and verifying property valuations.
  • Create, organize, and maintain electronic files, while ensuring file integrity.
  • Prepare, proof, and coordinate policy and endorsement issuance.
  • Process financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner; verify policies are properly booked and invoices are issued correctly.
  • Triage broker submissions to ensure all required underwriting data is complete, accurate, and compliant with underwriting guidelines.
  • Assist with the preparation of quotes and binders for review with underwriters.
  • Correspond with brokers; monitor outstanding documentation and proactively follow up to obtain required information.
  • Liaise between Underwriting, Operations, and other internal teams to facilitate efficient workflow and issue resolution.
  • Maintain underwriting trackers, databases, and reporting tools to ensure accurate account status and workflow visibility.

Job Opportunity

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Technician for our Property Division. The Underwriting Technician (UT) is integral to supporting our underwriting team, performing tasks as part of our underwriting process, which includes proposal and bind transactions for our property business. The UT will also perform underwriting activities associated with information gathering and rating for new business, renewals, and midterm changes. Additionally, the UT will assist with electronic file preparation on behalf of the Underwriter. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a strong customer service background.

The role is based in our Boston, MA office.

Duties & Responsibilities

The base salary range for this position is from $60K - $70K along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills, experience and location. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
