Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead a team of underwriting professionals in achieving organizational goals.

Reporting to the Senior Underwriting Manager, you will collaborate with management and other Underwriting Managers to drive performance and ensure adherence to guidelines. You will hire, develop, and retain staff, monitor performance, and provide technical leadership on all day-to-day underwriting of complex risks across multiple lines.

Qualifications

• Strong technical Commercial Lines Property and Casualty underwriting knowledge and skills.
• Thorough understanding of underwriting practices, coverages, rules, CLM, rating and regulatory requirements in a multi-state environment.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with ability to build relationships across the organization.
• Effective leader and solution-based problem solver capable of guiding a team.
• Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of underwriting professionals to meet organizational goals.
• Communicate company standards, guidelines, and requirements to brokers, members and staff.
• Hire, develop and retain staff with direct oversight of Underwriters, Associate Underwriters and Support Specialists.
• Identify skill gaps and oversee training to improve performance.
• Monitor team performance using management reports, audits and reviews.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance on underwriting in day-to-day operations.
• Authorize exceptions to underwriting rules within authority.
• Manage staffing schedules to meet production needs.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and file audits for compliance.
• Contribute to ongoing refinement of underwriting products, guidelines and procedures.
