Job summary

Old Republic Bitco seeks a dynamic Underwriting Manager to lead the branch underwriting team in the Dallas region. You will oversee day-to-day operations, coach staff, manage agency relationships, and drive profitable growth with strong technical underwriting expertise.

This role supports hybrid work and requires strategic leadership, sales acumen, and a focus on customer service excellence within a growing specialty insurer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5–7 years in underwriting, supervision, and external sales.
• Experience with construction, forest products, manufacturing, oil & gas preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises underwriting activities, ensuring quality, quantity and timeliness of work.
• Maintains procedures, trains staff, and conducts performance evaluations.
• Underwrites large or unusual risks requiring high technical knowledge.
• Develops agency relationships and manages agency profitability and credit.
• Quotes and negotiates prices on applications for new/renewal business.
• Travel to support sales, territory management and meetings as needed.
• Achieves profitable underwriting results and supports business planning.
