Job summary

The Underwriting Intern role at Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) offers a 10-week paid program in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX, exposing you to underwriting principles and risk evaluation. You will assist with financial analysis of benefit designs and collaborate with sales and account teams on pricing.

A final presentation to department leadership is required. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA and have work authorization in the United States.

Qualifications

Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.
Strong analytical skills.
Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel and Word.
Basic math competencies.
Work management skills including ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time.

Responsibilities

Learn underwriting principles and procedures for renewals and new business.
Assist in financial analysis around benefit designs for customers.
Support pricing negotiations with sales & account teams.
Assist with financial settlements.
Deliver final internship presentation to department leadership.
