Job summary

Highmark Inc. offers the Summer 2027 Underwriting Undergraduate Internship to provide hands-on experience supporting underwriting operations, pricing analysis, and financial evaluation activities within a healthcare and insurance setting.

Interns work with experienced underwriters and business professionals to understand how underwriting decisions affect growth and profitability. The program covers exposure to underwriting, finance, accounting, business analytics, and reporting, with projects on

Qualifications

Full or part-time enrollment in an accredited college or university baccalaureate program.
Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively while interacting with colleagues, clientele, and internal or external constituencies in planning assignments and resolving day-to-day operational problems.
Under supervision, provide entry-level professional services as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the area, with guidance from senior personnel.
Undertake and/or participate in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise.
Participate in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within area of expertise and ability.
As specifically requested by management, conduct research and reporting inclusive of recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
Undertake related studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
