Job summary

The Standard in Portland, OR seeks an Underwriting Support Analyst to analyze and evaluate risk for new and renewing employee benefits cases, applying guidelines to validate rates, designs and contract provisions.

Collaborate with Underwriting, Contracts, Premium Administration and Field teams to ensure accurate implementation and timely issue resolution, while managing multiple priorities.

Strong Excel, communication, and organizational skills are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of insurance experience, preferably disability benefits.
• Experience providing customer service in a high-volume or complex environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including data extraction, formatting, and basic formulas.
• Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to explain information clearly.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with Underwriting, Contracts, Premium Administration, and Field partners.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate new business, sold cases, and renewal risks while applying underwriting guidelines and contract provisions.
• Support business growth and profitability by validating rates, plan designs, and insurance risk assessments.
• Partner with Underwriting, Contracts, Premium Administration, and Field teams to ensure accurate and timely implementation of cases.
• Resolve implementation and service issues through effective communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Manage multiple priorities, identify process improvements, and provide subject matter expertise, training support, and mentorship to team members.
