Job summary

Bell & Associates, Inc. is seeking an Underwriting Associate to support its private credit platform.

You will underwrite new loan requests and support credit decisions across the portfolio, focusing on construction, bridge loans, and multiple asset types like multifamily, self-storage, and commercial. Responsibilities include building Excel financial models, analyzing deal structures and sponsor details, and preparing memos for loan recommendations.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Finance, Accounting or similar disciplinaries.
• 3+ years' in Real estate private credit underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting multiple asset types including multifamily, SFR, self-storage and commercial exposure.
• Working knowledge of transitional and development-stage lending: construction, bridge, land, and value-add.
• Familiarity with using AI solutions in an underwriting or analytical setting.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite construction, bridge loans across multiple asset types, including multifamily, commercial, and self-storage.
• Analyze a range of deal types: ground-up construction, value-add and rehab, land and subdivision, condo conversion and development, change of use, and short-term bridge.
• Build and maintain detailed Excel models covering cash flow, loan sizing, leverage (loan to cost), draw schedules, and returns.
• Analyze sponsor financials, project budgets, and market data to assess risk.
• Prepare credit memos and present findings to support loan decisions.
• Track loans through closing and monitor performance across the portfolio.
• Apply AI tools to improve underwriting speed and accuracy.
